OGE employees donate part of their salaries to charity
Gas network operator Open Grid Europe GmbH (OGE) is donating € 30,000 from its Last Few Cents campaign to charitable organisations.
At a donation ceremony in Essen, Nathalie Leroy, OGE’s Chief Financial Officer, and Önder Ata, Chair of the Works Council, welcomed representatives of the recipient organisations, OGE employees and members of the Last Few Cents Committee overseeing the campaign.
This year, OGE employees nominated more than 40 charities and non-profit organisations to receive donations. The final selection was made by the Last Few Cents Committee, which comprises equal numbers of representatives from management and the workforce. The ten organisations selected support people facing difficult stages in their lives, promote social cohesion and work in the fields of animal welfare and hospice care.

Representatives from the following organizations attended the donation ceremony on behalf of the beneficiary organizations: adventurecare e. V., Frauen helfen Frauen e. V., Ihr Pfand hilft Obdachlosen e. V., Social BallerZ e. V., Verein zur Hilfe suchtmittelabhängiger Frauen Essen e. V., and Generationen verbinden – gemeinsam gegen Einsamkeit.
“This campaign keeps reminding me how much our society depends on social commitment and how many different forms it can take. Donations make important projects possible, but your commitment goes far beyond financial support: you give your time, take responsibility, build personal relationships and provide direct support to people in need. This deserves our utmost respect, and I would like to my heartfelt thanks – also on behalf of my fellow board members and all OGE employees,” said Nathalie Leroy, addressing representatives of the organisations attending the ceremony.
“This year our employees nominated more than 40 charities and non-profit organisations. This shows that our colleagues care and want to help where support is needed. We were very much impressed by the variety of the organisations proposed and the great work they do,” added Önder Ata.

A long-standing tradition of giving
OGE’s Last Few Cents campaign has a long tradition. Employees donate the cents from their monthly salaries or round down their monthly pay to contribute to good causes. OGE then tops up the amounts collected before distributing the donations to charitable organisations.
The large number of nominations submitted this year once again highlights how important social engagement is to OGE employees. Through the campaign, the company supports organisations working across a wide range of fields, helping them continue their valuable work and provide assistance where it is needed most.
